Stick to timelines to complete power plant: Genco MD Chakradhar Babu

VIJAYAWADA: AP Genco managing director KVN Chakradhar Babu has asked the officials to stick to the timelines in the completion of power plant at Polavaram project.

Expressing satisfaction about the progress, Chakradhar Babu asked all the stakeholders involved in execution of work not to compromise on quality parameters. He said that early completion of hydel project is very significant in resolving electricity shortages in the state and bolstering the energy supply to the industrial and agricultural sectors. He said that state government is ready to extend fullest support to the field team in completion of the project as per the schedule.

Genco MD inspected the polavaram hydro power station to assess the construction progress on Wednesday. He stressed the importance of completing the project within the specified time frame. He visited Polavaram spillway upper and lower coffer dams, followed by inspection of the Ferrules manufacturing area to observe the manufacturing process. He reviewed the construction from the upper portion of the Polavaram hydro power station, taking time to traverse through the hydropower plant's tunnels. He also examined the arrangements of cone and draft tubes in the lower area before ascending to the top of the station in a crane basket, offering him a panoramic view of the ongoing work. The inspection further included an assessment of the tile rise channel.

After going through the detailed presentation made by the engineers of Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (Meil) who is executing the project, Chakradhar Babu expressed satisfaction and wanted them to continue the works with same pace. He said that the works were progressing according to the specified targets without any significant challenges. “All stakeholders should adhere to the established plan and work diligently to ensure the project's swift completion,” said Chakradhar Babu.

Genco Hydel director MV Satyanarayana, CE Suraj Kumar, civil department CE Y Koteswara Rao, CE designs M Ravindra Reddy, HPCSE K Chandra Shekhar, SE civil D. Babu Rao, Polavaram Project SE K.Narasimha Murthy, MEIL vice president Rangarajan, general manager Shankar, DGM Kranti, AGM Dilip, and other officials were present.

Later, Chakradhar Babu planted saplings at the site to emphasise the commitment to environmental sustainability.
