Visakhapatnam: A woman from Srikakulam lost over Rs 5.4 lakh in a cyber fraud after her mobile phone was stolen during a train journey.
The 50-year-old woman was travelling from Tirupati to Visakhapatnam when she lost her mobile phone. The woman mentioned that someone had stolen the phone while it was left charging on the train.

After reaching Visakhapatnam, she immediately informed the government railway police. They registered a case for investigation. Later, she checked her bank account and found multiple suspicious transactions totalling Rs 5.4 lakh.
She immediately called the helpline (1930) and filed a complaint. The cybercrime police in Vizag registered a case, and an investigation is on to identify the fraudsters who stole the money.
The police received complaints from people who lost their mobile phones (either stolen or lost) and lost their money, as some gangs exploit the weak passwords of those mobile phones and manage to transfer amounts from the victims' mobile phones.
