VIJAYAWADA: Kanaka Durga temple in the city is ready for the month-long auspicious Sravana masam festivities starting from Friday.
Officials are expecting huge turnout of devotees throughout the month and have made elaborate arrangements.
Sravana masam is considered as the birth month of goddess Kanaka Durga. Women offer month-long prayers wishing prosperity and good health of their family.
“Sravana is a month which gives prosperity. Women worship goddess Maha Lakshmi throughout the month and perform VaraLakshmi Pooja on Fridays. It is believed to give prosperity,” said Siva Prasada Sharma, sthana acharya of the temple.
Temple authorities announced that Visesha Kumkuma Archana will be conducted throughout the month from 6 am to 7 am.
Varalakshmi Vratham will be performed on a grand note on August 19 in which thousands of women are likely to participate. Officials said that a locket of goddess Kanaka Durga and a silk robe will be given as Prasadam to the devotees.
