Seven arrested for murder of TDP councillor

Vijayawada: Bapatla police on Wednesday arrested seven persons on charges of killing Repalle councillor and TDP activist, Anne Ramakrishna (49). He was killed on April 19.The arrested were identified as Dandamudi Venkata Dharani Kumar (43), Kondepi Pavan Babu (39), Yalavarthi Rajesh (42), Uppala Yogendra (27), Repalle Paparao (42), Divi Shiva Pruthvi (36) and Thummala Krishna Chaitanya (28).According to police, Ramakrishna’s wife Sudha lodged a complaint with Repalle town police stating that due to a quarrel that erupted while erecting political flexes in the past, the prime accused, Dharani Kumar, bore a grudge against her husband.Dharani Kumar and his accomplices obstructed Ramakrishna while he was returning home on the night of April 17 and assaulted him with iron rods. Ramakrishna sustained injuries and died next day while receiving treatment at Guntur GGH. The accused were taken into custody at Penumudi check post.
