VIJAYAWADA: A fatal road accident at Keesara toll plaza in Kanchikacherla mandal of NTR district claimed the life of a senior advocate from Hyderabad on Saturday after a fly ash tanker lost control and overturned onto his car.According to police, the accident occurred when the brakes of a 16-wheeled tanker reportedly failed while heading towards Hyderabad. The driver lost control near the toll plaza, causing the heavy vehicle to topple directly onto a car passing through the stretch. The impact was so severe that the car was completely crushed under the weight of the tanker.The deceased has been identified as Srinivasa Rao, a senior lawyer and resident of Yellareddyguda in Hyderabad. He was travelling alone in the vehicle (TS 09 NT 6662) at the time of the accident. Officials said the body was badly mangled due to the intensity of the crash.Rescue teams faced significant challenges in retrieving the body, as the tanker had to be lifted using cranes and earth-moving machines. The operation took considerable time before the wreckage could be cleared.Vijayawada police commissioner S V Rajasekhara Babu rushed to the spot and supervised the rescue efforts.
He confirmed that only one person was in the car and that the accident was caused by loss of control of the tanker.The incident has sent shockwaves through the legal fraternity. State Bar Council president Vasireddy Prabhunath visited the accident site and expressed deep grief over the advocate's death, describing it as a tragic loss.Colleagues remembered Srinivasa Rao as a lawyer who rose from student activism and was known for his commitment to public issues and justice. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident.
