Vijayawada: The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) will organise summer coaching camps 2026 across the state, targeting children aged 8 to 16 years. According to officials, a total of 1,389 camps will be organised in 55 sports disciplines at 1,020 venues covering 423 mandals.
At a press conference, SAAP chairman Ravi Naidu said guidelines have been issued to district sports officers after a review process. A three-member committee will monitor implementation at the district level. The camps will function under the supervision of District Collectors.
Officials stated that funds have been allocated for sports equipment, training materials, camp management and other operational needs. Basic facilities such as drinking water and refreshments will be arranged at camp locations. Local organisations, sports associations and volunteers are expected to assist in conducting the camps.
The programme aims to engage children during summer holidays through structured training in multiple sports. Registrations and attendance will be tracked through a dedicated sports application, and officials have been instructed to monitor daily activities and training progress.
The camps are scheduled to be inaugurated by sports minister Mandepalli Ramprasad Reddy.
