(APSRTC) employees and the management failed on Thursday, APSRTC employees are firm about going on strike from June 13.

Addressing the media after a discussion with the general manager, APSRTC employees joint action committee (JAC) convenor, Palisetti Damodara Rao alleged that the management is not committed to fulfilling the demands of employees.

“We had issued a strike notice a month ago and had placed a list of 26 demands. The higher authorities simply asked us to postpone the strike as managing director, Surendra Babu has gone out of the city,” Damodara Rao said.

Rao further said, “ Merging APSRTC with the state government and financial support of Rs 3,500 crore are our prime demands. We request the new government to consider our requests.”

“Most of us were working extra hours owing to the shortage of staff. The management is not in a position to recruit people in the vacant posts. We have decided to not cooperate with the management and we will stall extra duties,” said YV Rao, secretary, APSRTC employees’ union.

The secretary requested the chief minister to intervene and merge APSRTC with the state government.
