VIJAYAWADA: Reddygudem sub-inspector NVV Satyanarayana was arrested on Wednesday on the charge of accepting Rs 5,000 from a complainant. The SI was reportedly involved in extortion and corrupt practices, senior officials said.
Sleuths of ACB conducted a raid on Reddigudem police station in Mylavaram circle in Krishna district and caught Satyanarayana red-handed when he was taking the tainted money.
According to ACB DSP V Gopala Krishna, the SI had demanded Rs 5,000 from one R Nagaraju to release his motorcycle which was seized by cops two days ago. "He also threatened Nagaraju that serious cases will be booked against him if he does not cough up the money," an official said.
"We have recovered the tainted money. Seven mobile phones were also seized," said the DSP.
