Vijayawada: TDP on Friday alleged that creation of R-5 zone in Amaravati is a plan by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to destroy the capital city in the guise of giving houses to poor people.
When 1,675 acres of land is available in R-3 zone, where is the need for creation of R-5 zone in the lands reserved for electronic city, asked Kommareddy Pattabhiram, the official spokesperson of TDP.
If the intention of the state government was really to give houses to the poor, it can do so by constructing houses in R-3 zone where land is available instead of ruining the masterplan of the capital city, he said. As many as 1.9 lakh houses can be built in 1,675 acres of land available in R-3 zone but Jagan Mohan Reddy chose to give house sites in 1402 acres in electronic city which would destroy the masterplan, he said.
Pattabhiram said 5,024 houses were built during the TDP regime in 44 acres of land in Amaravati. These houses were not handed over to the beneficiaries till date but the YSRC government is claiming that they are giving houses to poor people. The priority in giving houses should be given to the poor people living in the capital city area instead the Jagan Mohan Reddy’s administration planned to bring people from outside the capital.
