Tirupati: Proddatur police in Kadapa district arrested 11 people, including a housewife, her paramour and hired assassins, on charges of plotting a man's murder.
According to Proddatur DSP U Vibu Krishna, a middle-aged man identified as Eswar Reddy, a resident of Lingapuram village, whose fight with his wife, K Shilpa, almost cost him his life.
The wife allegedly developed intimacy with an attendant, D Naga Sudheer, working in a govt hospital, and she decided to get her husband killed after he came to know of their affair. She convinced her paramour of her plan to get Eswar Reddy killed, and she pooled in a sum of ₹10 lakh by selling off her jewellery to execute her plan.
Her lover, in turn, used her money as ‘supari' and hired a rowdy sheeter to kill Eswar Reddy. But their plans fell apart when Eswar Reddy came to know of his wife's affair and grew even more suspicious of her behaviour when she suddenly sold off her jewellery. Sensing something was not right, Eswar Reddy lodged a formal police complaint.
Proddatur police, who acted on his complaint, swung into action immediately and, after a detailed investigation, arrested 11 people.
The other accused arrested in the case were identified as Perumalla Vinay Kumar, Suddugunta Palli Lakshmi Narayana, Perumalla Nagaiah, B Sudheer Kumar, T Srinivasulu, P Sivamohan Reddy, Siddaguntapalli Sai Kumar, RH Parasuramudu and Chakali Mallikharjuna.
Police seized 10 sharp weapons, including knives and iron rods, ₹5 lakh cash, two cars and mobile phones from the possession of the accused. All 11 accused were produced before the local court and sent to judicial remand on Friday.
