Vijayawada: District revenue officer (DRO) Ch Rangaiah has instructed the officials to prepare the estimates for providing facilities at the pushkar nagars to be set up for the upcoming Krishna Pushkarams.
At a meeting with mandal parishad development officers (MPDOs) and panchayat raj officials here on Tuesday, sub-collector of Vijayawada G Srujana and district revenue officer Ch Rangaiah said that a total number of 38 pushkar nagars and over 80 pushkar ghats are being readied across the district.
"As the 12-day festivities are less than 45 days away, the estimates for providing facilities like bathrooms, shelters, drinking water, footwear stand, parking and others should be prepared at pushkar nagars," Ch Rangaiah said.
He added that temporary sheds and tents which can withstand rains will be arranged.
He asked the officials to identify places to prepare food for the pilgrims. "As voluntary organisations are coming forward to provide food during pushkarams, land should be provided to them for arranging kitchens," he said.
Once the estimates are ready, the panchayat raj officials will invite tenders, he said.
Vijayawada sub-collector G Srujana said that more than three crore people are expected to visit the city during pushkarams. "Grade the pushkar ghats as per the facilities and the pilgrims will be transported from pushkar nagars accordingly," she said. Srujana added that all the facilities at the pushkar nagars should be ready three days prior to the commencement of the festival.
