Vijayawada: A division bench of the high court, headed by Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and comprising Justice R Raghunandan Rao, directed the
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to file a counter affidavit stating details of the Parakamani theft case and the process adopted to compromise the case before the Lok Adalat.
The accused in the case, C V Ravi Kumar, preferred an appeal challenging the single judge order directing an inquiry by the CID and the ACB to probe the irregularities and illegal assets of the accused, who was caught red-handed while stealing $900 from Parakamani.

Senior counsel C Nageswara Rao, arguing on behalf of Ravi Kumar, stated that the single judge ought not to have passed a series of directions while referring the issue to the division bench to decide the legality of the Lok Adalat order. He said the single judge erroneously passed the order by considering the accused a public servant.
Considering the submissions, the high court asked the TTD to file a counter affidavit, including its rules and guidelines in the matter. The HC further directed the registry to tag the matter before the single judge bench with the present appeal and posted the matter for further hearing to Feb 5.
