NTR police recover 122 stolen & lost mobile phones

Vijayawada: The NTR district police on Wednesday returned 122 recovered mobile phones to victims, marking another milestone in property recovery operations. The phones, collectively worth approximately ₹18 lakh, were traced and retrieved using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system. The handover was conducted at the Police Command Control Centre under the supervision of Cyber Crime DCP Krishna Prasanna. With this latest recovery, the district police successfully traced and returned a total of 2,589 mobile phones in 7 phases. Of these, 2,467 phones were restored to owners in 6 earlier phases.Addressing the victims, DCP Krishna Prasanna also created awareness about cybercrimes and urged citizens to report lost phones immediately through CEIR services to prevent misuse. "Timely reporting significantly increases the chances of recovery and helps prevent cyber fraud," she said. Many victims expressed relief and gratitude upon receiving their phones, thanking the police for their swift action and persistent follow-up. Police appealed to the public to remain vigilant and promptly report cyber fraud or mobile theft. "Protection of your property and safety is our responsibility, but early complaints from citizens help us act faster," officials stated.
Cyber Crime ACP B Rajasekhar, Inspectors Durga Prasad, Srinu, Srinivas, and other cybercrime staff were present during the handover ceremony.
