TIRUPATI: Nellore rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy dropped hints of resigning from the YSR Congress Party fold and launched a scathing attack on the ruling government over the phone-tapping controversy.
Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy recently levelled startling allegations against the state government and vented ire against his own party for tapping his phones.
After Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy's exposure, senior YSRC MLA Anam Ramnarayana Reddy representing the Venkatagiri assembly constituency in Tirupati district also accused the ruling party of tapping his phones too.
Even as the phone tapping controversy has rocked the ruling YSR Congress party, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy once again held a press conference and told reporters that he will not contest the next general elections on a YSRC ticket.
"The next general elections are approximately 15 months away from now. But I'm making it clear much before that I will not be contesting on a YSRC ticket in the next elections as I cannot stay in such a party which has no confidence in me and which has humiliated me in many ways. I will soon make a statement regarding my political future", the Nellore rural YSRC MLA clarified.
"Pointing out that as per the general conventions only the phones of anti social elements, terrorists, smugglers etc are tapped to safeguard national interests, in AP the YSRC-led state government is tapping the phones of its own party MLAs which is really unfortunate. While the ruling governments are supposed to protect the peoples privacy against such illegal phone tapping activities, here the government itself is guilty of tapping the phones of the YSR Congress party," the Nellore rural MLA said.
"I have been a YSR family loyalist for nearly 30 years and I have been with YS
Jagan Mohan Reddy during his bad times and thr good times. But I'm very much aggrieved that my own party is suspecting me because of which my phones are being tapped after state government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy ordered surveillance on me", Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy lamented.
Meanwhile energy minister and YSRC party affairs incharge for Nellore district Balineni Srinivasa Reddy strongly rebutted Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy's allegations of phone tapping and termed it ridiculous.
"Kotamreddy has made up his mind to desert the YSR Congress party to join the Telugu Desam Party ahead of the next general elections and he is creating a scene to justify his move before the people by leveling false accusations against the ruling party," said Balineni Srinivasa Reddy.
