Narayana danced along with youths at a Happy Sunday programme organised by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) at
Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in the city on Sunday.
Narayana, who conducted surprise inspections in the city in the early hours of Sunday, participated in the programme along with city mayor Koneru Sridhar, Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rama Mohan Rao, and Krishna district zilla parishad chairperson G Anuradha.
The minister asked youths present at the programme to enrol their names in the voters’ list before October 31.
Narayana also asked denizens to maintain cleanliness and support the Swachh initiatives being pursued by the VMC to improve its performance in Swachh Survekshan-2019.
“The municipal administration department has set a new record by bringing in many reforms in recent times and CM Chandrababu Naidu’s directions helped us in planning unique programmes,” Narayana said.
Sanitation and public health play a significant role in urban planning and the state government is giving top priority to these wings and allocating budgets to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases in monsoon season, he said.
The MAUD minister expressed his dissatisfaction over the poor pace of Storm Water Drain (SWD) works across the city.
The huge turnout at the Happy Sundays programme was appreciated by the minister as many students from various colleges in the city turned up to showcase their dancing talent.
