Vijayawada: A meet was held to discuss preventive and precautionary steps to be taken to curb accidents on ghat roads in Tirumala on Monday.
The meet was held in the chamber of TTD EO AV
Dharma Reddy in the administrative building in Tirupati.
Tirupati JEO Veerabrahmam, chief vigilance security officer Narasimha Kishore, and other officials from TTD and related departments in the district participated.
Dharma Reddy said a strong mechanism needs to be put in place to enhance security on ghat roads.
“For this, both the TTD CVSO and the district SP should come up with best proposals”, he said.
Essential measures discussed included ensuring 100 per cent surveillance on Vaikuntham-Temple Point stretch, and at all four entry points, including two ghat roads and two footpath routes.
Whenever an
accident takes place on ghat roads, the case should be referred to hospitals like SVIMS, BIRRD, and SPCHC immediately. The vigilance should alert the hospital concerned so that an action team will be kept ready at the hospitals to attend to the injured without any delay.
During operation of bus service, a supervisor on behalf of
APSRTC should be present to ensure smooth transportation. The drivers also need to be guided to maintain proper distance between two buses to ensure road safety. It was proposed to ban plying of accident-prone vehicles on ghat roads. TTD security posts will be set up for surveillance on the roads.
