Mangalagiri cricket stadium set for revival after 7 years

Vijayawada: After lying incomplete for nearly seven years due to persistent design flaws, the long-pending Mangalagiri cricket stadium is set for a grand revival. The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has officially launched modernisation works to transform the venue into a premier destination for league and domestic cricket.During an inspection visit, ACA president, MP Keshineni Shivanad, and ACA secretary Sana Satish Babu unveiled an ambitious roadmap to convert the neglected stadium into a modern cricketing hub. For years, the project stalled amid structural issues, drawing criticism from sports enthusiasts.
With active government support, the stadium will host league and domestic matches, beginning with the 2026 Andhra Premier League (APL) Season 5. The opening match is scheduled for June 3 in Mangalagiri, marking a symbolic new beginning. APL fixtures will also be held in Visakhapatnam and Kadapa.Modernisation works, including floodlights and spectator stands costing ₹5 crore, are underway and expected to finish by May. The revamped stadium is likely to be inaugurated by chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, and minister Nara Lokesh.Officials said the stadium will feature improved seating, accommodation for 100–150 players, medical and physiotherapy facilities, and enhanced infrastructure.
