Tirupati: A middle-aged man killed his wife and mother by strangulating them with a dupatta and later fled the spot with his two children. The shocking crime was reported at Chakali Veedhi under Venkatakrishna Palem panchayat in Narayanavanam mandal of Tirupati district on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Harika (30) and Chandrakala (55). While Harika used to run a tailoring shop and a beauty parlour, Chandrakala was a housewife. Narayanavanam police rushed to the crime scene and shifted the bodies for postmortem. Police said the accused husband, Mohan, left the place with his son, a ninth class student, and daughter, who is studying in class seven, after committing the double murder.
Police have formed special teams to nab the accused. Teams were dispatched to Pallipattu-Nagari along the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border, after Mohan's mobile signals were tracked to that area. The reason behind the double murder is yet to be ascertained.
