Man kills dad in drunken brawl in Vijayawada

VIJAYAWADA: A drunken brawl between a father and son resulted in the death of the father at Wood Pet in Machavaram police station limits here on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Gudimetla Ramesh (48). He was stabbed twice by his son Santosh Kiran alias Kittu as the aggressive altercation turned violent.
Machavaram inspector M Prabhakar said Kittu and his father got separated many years ago.Kittu got married a year ago. Of late, he started to pick up fights with his wife. Though the father and son are not in good relation, Ramesh went to Kittu on Sunday to talk about the marital dispute.
Ramesh reportedly scolded Kittu for picking up fights with his wife which infuriated Kittu. He was already in an inebriated condition and started arguing with his father for leaving him and his mother years ago. Heated argument soon turned into altercation between father and son. In the process, Kittu picked up a knife and stabbed his father in the neck and abdomen.
Ramesh was rushed to Government General Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
