Tirupati: Kurnool III town police arrested 4 persons on charges of injecting HIV-infected blood into the bloodstream of a local doctor at Kurnool on 9 Jan. According to the Kurnool III town circle inspector P Seshaiah, the accused arrested by the police were identified as BB Vasundhara (40), K Jyothi (40), B Jeswanth (20) and B Sruthi (19).
Police investigation revealed that Vasundhara hatched a plan to take revenge on her ex-lover, a doctor, SLR Karun Kumar, as he got married to a local doctor, K Sravani.
She collected blood from HIV-infected patients from the local govt hospital on the pretext of carrying out some research and preserved it.
Vasundhara and her 3 accomplices followed Dr Sravani when she was heading home for lunch and first dashed into her bike near the KC canal Vinayak ghat on Jan 9. After Sravani fell, Vasundhara pretended to help her by calling an autorickshaw, but in the process, she injected the HIV-infected blood into Sravani.
After Sravani raised an alarm for help, the 4 accused absconded from the spot. Following a complaint lodged by Sravani's husband, Kurnool III town police registered a case and, following a detailed investigation, arrested all 4 accused, who were subsequently sent to 14 days' judicial remand.
