Kasu Vengala Reddy to be immortalised

Guntur: State government has decided to name the Zilla Parishad building after late ZP chairman Kasu Vengala Reddy. The government has asked the panchayath raj commissioner to rename the ZP building as

Bhavan in view of the services rendered by the veteran leader to the panchayat raj institutions.

Vengala Reddy served as ZP chairman twice during 1962-64 and 1971-1976. He was longest serving ZP chief in the district and was considered a good administrator, who was the backbone of his brother Brahmananda Reddy when the latter was CM of undivided AP. Brahmananda Reddy was one of the longest serving CMs of AP.

Gurazala legislator and grandson of Vengala Reddy, Kasu Mahesh Reddy, recently met the chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and submitted a representation to name the ZP office after veteran leader. Subsequently, the CM asked the panchayat raj department to consider the request. tnn
