Kadapa police recover 505 mobile phones, restore them to rightful owners
Tirupati: Kadapa district police wing recovered 505 stolen or lost mobile phones worth Rs 70 lakh in the eighth phase of "Operation Mobi Track", the ongoing crackdown on mobile thefts across the district. Kadapa SP Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath handed over the recovered mobile phones to the rightful owners at a mobile mela camp held at Kadapa on Wednesday. Kadapa SP noted that the district police wing has so far recovered 5,877 stolen/lost mobile phones worth Rs 11.7 crore in eight phases. The SP urged the public to stay vigilant against cyber threats and shared essential steps to follow if a mobile is lost or stolen. The police dept issued a stern warning against buying second-hand mobile phones from strangers without a valid bill. Purchasing such devices could unknowingly involve citizens in cybercrimes or theft cases. Kadapa SP appreciated the efforts of the cyber crime dept for successfully recovering such a large number of stolen/lost mobile phones.
