Kadapa police invoke PD Act on habitual offender

Tirupati: The Kadapa district police have invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against repeated offender Dumpala Vinod Kumar (33).According to Kadapa SP Shelke Nachiket Viswanath, Vinod Kumar, a resident of Pallavolu village in Chapadu mandal, has been involved in 26 theft and related cases registered across the district since 2012.Despite multiple arrests and jail terms, he continued unlawful activities. Acting on a report submitted to district collector Dr. Cherukuri Sridhar, the PD Act was invoked on Tuesday.SP Viswanath warned that police will closely monitor habitual offenders and promptly initiate PD Act proceedings against those who persist in criminal activity and pose a threat to society.
