Tirupati: The Kadapa district administration invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act on three seasoned offenders based on the recommendations of the district police wing. Kavati Aruna of Pulivendula, who is involved in 16 cases of theft, Thonda Posamma of Gokavaram (East Godavari), with 27 cases on her, and Thonda Pothuraju, with 56 cases on his head, were identified to be repeat offenders even after being arrested and coming out on bail several times. As the PD Act is meant to keep anti-social elements and troublemongers like drug peddlers, robbers, rowdy sheeters, land grabbers and human traffickers at bay, Kadapa SP Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath forwarded a proposal to this effect to the district Collector Sridhar Cherukuri, who approved the same late on Tuesday. The order was forwarded to the Kadapa Central Prison authorities for immediate enforcement.
