Vijayawada: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued orders sanctioning glass tumbler as common symbol for
Jana Sena in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The orders will be in force till the next general elections.
Glass tumbler was Jana Sena’s symbol in the 2019 elections, where the party contested 137 assembly seats in AP and seven Parliamentary constituencies in Telangana.
It managed to win only one assembly seat in AP, and secured an overall vote share of 5.53 %.
It was then put in the list of free symbols as
Jana Sena had failed to get sufficient number of votes to save its symbol.
Pawan Kalyan and former assembly speaker Nadendla Manohar did a row of consultations with ECI for the last one year seeking continuation of glass tumbler as its common symbol. Thanking ECI, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan said he expects his party will play a key role in governance in the coming days.
