Vijayawada: Grand Ugadi celebrations marking the Sri Parabhava Nama Samvatsaram were held at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli on Thursday, with former chief minister and party president
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his wife YS Bharathi taking part in the festivities.
YS Jagan participated in the celebrations in traditional attire, reflecting cultural reverence and Telugu heritage. The couple was accorded a traditional welcome with Poornakumbham by Vedic scholars on arrival for the Ugadi celebrations and Panchanga Sravanam.
Senior party leaders, key functionaries, former ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and other representatives attended the event. A specially arranged stage resembling a sacred prayer mandir was set up for the occasion.
Rituals were conducted in a traditional manner, followed by Panchanga Sravanam delivered by renowned scholar Pidaparthi Bhaskara Subrahmanya Sastry. Following the ceremony, Vedic scholars offered blessings and presented teertha prasadam to the couple. Extending Ugadi greetings, YS Jagan conveyed his wishes to party leaders, cadre, supporters across the state, and people of both Telugu states celebrating the festival.
He emphasised unity, cultural values, and collective progress on the occasion.
The event concluded with YS Jagan honouring Vedic scholars, including Pidaparthi Bhaskara Subrahmanya Sastry, in recognition of their contribution to the celebrations. Former deputy speaker Kona Raghupati, former ministers Perni Nani, Jogi Ramesh, Ambati Rambabu, Karumuru Nageswara Rao, Vellampalli Srinivas, state party coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, MLCs Lella Appireddy, Varudu Kalyani, Kalpalatha Reddy, Tumati Madhava Rao, Malladi Vishnu, Krishna ZP chairperson Uppala Harika, and former Vijayawada mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi were also present.
