JAC requests govt to fulfil OPS promises

Vijayawada: AP Joint Action Committee (APJAC-Amaravati) said that it will conclude its protests only after the state fulfils the promises made earlier on implementing old pension scheme (OPS) in place of contributory pension scheme (CPS).
A delegation of the committee, led by its chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu, held talks with chief secretary K S Jawahar Reddy at the secretariat on Thursday and discussed protests taken up by the government employees for the last 84 days.
Explaining the outcomes of meeting Bopparaju said, “Elaborate discussion was held on long pending issues faced by government employees, pensioners, contract and outsourcing staff. CS immediately responded to a few issues. He assured resolving issue related to dearness allowances (DAs) of VRAs. We objected to converting women welfare secretaries into women police. Issues related to CPS were also submitted.”
The CS assured that he will bring the issues into the notice of the council of ministers at the cabinet meeting scheduled on June 7, he added.
Another leader Palisetty Damodara Rao said that they will continue the protests until Joint Staff Council (JSC) gives them written assurance.
