Interstate car thief arrested at Madanapalle

Tirupati: The Madanapalle police arrested an interstate car thief and recovered three SUVs from his possession on Wednesday. Acting on specific information, Madanapalle police intercepted a suspicious man during vehicular checks near Nakkaladinne arch. The accused taken into custody was identified as R Devaraj Kumar, 31, a resident of Karnataka. The accused was addicted to alcohol and gambling, and had huge debts to repay. He confessed to stealing high-end luxury cars to pay off his debts and maintain a lavish lifestyle. Annamayya SP Dheeraj Kanubilli urged the public to be more vigilant and adopt modern security measures. "We advise vehicle owners to install GPRS tracking systems and security alarms. Installing CCTV cameras in residential colonies and near house entrances can act as a major deterrent to such crimes," the SP said.
