Tirupati: Speakers at the various fora commemorating ‘World Human Rights Day’ on Tuesday stressed upon the importance of human rights as an essential part of human existence.
Praveen Kumar, senior civil judge, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kadapa, addressed a meeting organised at Hyderabad Public School in Kadapa on Tuesday, where he spoke on the fundamental rights and duties of an Indian citizen.
He further elaborated on women’s rights and child rights. In an interactive session with students, he explained the articles of the Constitution. Principal RK Singh sought more such sessions for spreading information among the student community at large.
At Renigunta, 300 students from the Girls High School participated in elocution and essay competitions on human rights.
The event was conducted by Human Rights Organisation’s district research officer Yugandhar under the theme ‘Youth make the change’. Headmistress EG Vishnuvardhanamma advised the girls to fulfil their duties while claiming their rights, to emerge as a ‘true leader’.
