VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh high court on Thursday stayed further proceedings in promoting the anganwadi workers to grade-II supervisors based on the written test conducted. The high court observed that the process adopted by the state government to promote anganwadi workers is prima facie in contravention with the procedure notified.

One S Kalpana and four others moved the high court alleging large scale irregularities in the written test conducted on September 18. Arguing on behalf of the petitioners, Jada Sravan Kumar told the high court that according to the GO 34 issued by the state government, English proficiency test should be conducted to all applicants who appeared for written test. However, the English proficiency test was held to only a few selected candidates by sending video links.

Sravan Kumar further argued that eligibility of the candidates should be derived only after conducting English proficiency test to all candidates, but the authorities adopted a different procedure by violating the provisions of the notification. He alleged that huge amounts changed hands to choose selected candidates.
