Free bus travel for PwDs in APSRTC buses from March 18
Vijayawada: The APSRTC announced free bus travel for persons with disabilities (PwDs) with more than 40% disability, and a 50% concession on bus ticket fares for individuals escorting PwDs on the buses. The free bus travel scheme will be implemented under "Indradhanussu", which will be formally launched on March 18. According to RTC, the free travel facility will be extended to all eligible PwDs covered under Section 2 (ZC) of the RPwD Act, 2016, who have 40% or more disability. The facility will be available across 5 categories of APSRTC buses: Palle Velugu, Ultra Palle Velugu, City Ordinary, Metro Express, and Express. The initiative aimed to enhance accessibility, mobility, and social participation of persons with disabilities by providing them with convenient and dignified public transport services, the RTC said.
