Four held with MDMA in Vijayawada, police probe drug supply network

Vijayawada: In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, police arrested four youngsters and seized 16 grams of MDMA in Vijayawada, raising concerns over the growing presence of synthetic drugs in the city.The arrests were made by the Vijayawada police task force, which intensified surveillance following reports that party drugs such as MDMA were increasingly circulating among youngsters. During the operation, officers apprehended the accused and recovered the contraband from their possession.
The arrested individuals were identified as Kaushik Reddy from Poranki, Dandu Achyut from Yanamalakuduru, Sai Hemanth from Sunnapubattila Centre in Vijayawada, and Sai Vivek from Tadigadapa. Following their arrest, the suspects were handed over to the Machavaram police station for further investigation.Preliminary enquiries revealed that the accused allegedly procured MDMA from Bengaluru and transported it to Vijayawada, where it was sold to local users. Police suspect that the arrested youths were part of a larger distribution network supplying synthetic drugs in the region.Meanwhile, the EAGLE wing of Andhra Pradesh Police also stepped in and launched a detailed probe to trace the source of the drug supply and identify the larger network behind the trafficking of narcotics into the city.Officials said investigators were examining the accused's contacts, financial transactions, and travel patterns to uncover the supply chain.
