Ex-Vizag MP moves HC for anticipatory bail

Vijayawada: Former YSRCP MP from Visakhapatnam, MVV Satyanarayana, moved Andhra Pradesh high court seeking anticipatory bail in the case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over the alleged grabbing of Hayagreeva lands. The ED registered an ECIR based on the FIR registered by Arilova police in Visakhapatnam.
Arguing on behalf of Satyanarayana, N Aswani Kumar sought an urgent hearing on the interlocutory application filed for interim anticipatory bail. However, the counsel for ED, Josyula Bhaskar Rao, vehemently opposed the plea for urgent hearing. He sought time for the filing of a counter affidavit with all details. Justice VRK Krupa Sagar posted the matter for further hearing to Nov 5.
The ED conducted raids on the premises of Satyanarayana at five locations and recovered incriminating documents, electronic devices, and identified more than 330 sale deeds, Rs 50 crore in cash transactions, and benami properties.
It was alleged that Satyanarayana fraudulently acquired 12.5 acres of land, originally allotted to Hayagreeva Farms Pvt Limited for the construction of an old age home and orphanage. Satyanarayana fraudulently alienated the land by splitting it into smaller blocks and conducted transactions worth Rs 200 crore.
