VIJAYAWADA: Former Vice-president of India, M Venkaiah Naidu and actor and former union minister K Chiranjeevi are nominated from Padma Vibushan from Andhra Pradesh.

Venkaiah Naidu hails from Chavatapalem of Nellore district and he serve as MLA from Udayagiri assembly constituency in combined Andhra Pradesh. He played a key role in BJP and served as party's national President between 2002 to 2004.

He served as union minister for rural development in the then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's cabinet from September 2000 to June 2002. Venkaiah Naidu played a key role in prime minister Narendra Modi's first cabinet and served as minister for urban development, minister for information and broadcasting until he was elected as vice president of India in August 2017.

Venkaiah Naidu is closely associated with Telugu people.

K Chiranjevi is a famous Telugu actor and he was honored with Padma Bushan in 2006 for his contribution to Indian cinema and his social service activities. Chiranjeevi served as tourism minister of Indian between 2011-14.

AP chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Janasena chief K Pawan Kalyan, Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu congratulated Venkaiah Naidu and Chiranjeevi on the occasion.
