Forcing Hindi upon pupils not right, neither is blind opposition: Vice-President
TIRUPATI: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu observed on Monday that it was not right to enforce Hindi upon all school students.This comes after the Union HRD ministry’s draft of the national education policy received criticism from Tamil leaders. The ministry has decided to include Hindi as one of the three compulsory languages at schools.
Speaking to reporters on his 3-day visit to the temple city, Venkaiah said, ‘‘it is not correct to enforce Hindi. However, it is equally wrong to blindly oppose the move.”
The V-P arrived to a traditional welcome at Sri Padmavathi guest house at Tirumala on Monday evening with his family. He will offer prayers to Lord Venkateswara on Tuesday morning.
Earlier, Venkaiah was speaking at the silver jubilee celebrations of the national atmospheric research laboratory (
‘‘I congratulate the NARL for upgrading the original MST radar system with new technology,” the V-P said. He further added, “Progress in science and technology can be hastened through collaborations.The technologies which you have developed should be fully utilised for a bigger goal.”
He also expressed concerns over global warming and said scientists should address the issues related to climate by developing state of the art observational instruments.

All the Hindi belt people send their children to English medium schools. It is rediculas to ask us to learn Hindi mandatorily from childhood.Any language can be learned in short time for communication purpose if required.Many north indian officers&traders connected with southern states are good example of this.They are quite comfortable in local lingua franca.Three language formula is outdated.Read allPost comment
