Five killed in car-truck collision

Vijayawada: Five persons were killed and eight others critically wounded in a car-truck collision near Medarametla on the Kolkatta-Chennai national highway-5 in Prakasam district on Thursday. According to information received, four of the victims were aged below five.
The victims were identified as Vamsmi Krishna (3), Chinnikrishna Manohar (5), Vasavi (3) Nitya Sri (2) and the car driver Nagaraju.
The children belonged to the family of Veera Swamy from old Guntur. The mishap occurred when the family was returning from Tirupati after fulfilling a wish as their car rammed into a stationary car, the police said. The children's parents were also injured in the accident.
