Vijayawada: A shocking incident unfolded in Pullampeta mandal of Tirupati district when a drunken man allegedly turned violent and bit off the fingers of a head constable who was attempting to control him. The incident occurred on Sunday night at Nagulapuri Gattu Street, causing panic among residents.
According to police, the accused, Naga Thimmareddy, allegedly created a drunken disturbance in front of his uncle's house. After he escaped from the spot, a complaint was lodged with the Pullampeta police, following which two constables were dispatched to intervene and reprimand him.

However, the situation escalated unexpectedly. When the police tried to question and restrain him, the intoxicated man reportedly became aggressive and attacked head constable Venkata Subbaraju Yadav. In a sudden act of violence, the accused allegedly bit off his fingers, causing severe injuries.
Fellow police personnel immediately rushed the injured officer to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing medical treatment. His condition is said to be stable, though the injuries are serious.
Based on Yadav's complaint, Pullampeta police registered a case. Sub-inspector Chinna Reddappa took up the investigation, and further legal action is underway. Police condemned the attack and warned that strict action will be taken against anyone who assaults on-duty personnel.
