Tirupati: In a bizarre incident, a middle-aged man from
Karnataka allegedly severed his own leg in an inebriated state after being distressed over his wife eloping with another man. The incident occurred in the Madina Konda forest area near Madanapalle.
The man, identified as Sriramulu, a resident of Narayanahalli in Chintamani taluk of Karnataka, was reportedly depressed after his wife, Pavithra, eloped with her lover Siddhappa. A few days ago, he came to stay at his sister Siddamma's house near Madanapalle.
On Sunday, Sriramulu went to the forest area, consumed excessive alcohol, and in a disturbed state allegedly used a knife to sever his own leg. Shepherds who noticed him alerted locals, following which he was shifted to the government hospital. Police are inquiring about the incident.
