Vijayawada: The high court on Friday issued notices to the state government and the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) on a petition filed by the farmers who gave away their lands for capital Amaravati. The farmers sought directions to pay annual lease amount which is payable to them in lieu of the lands given by them.
Pothineni
Srinivasa Rao and others filed the petition contending that the state government is delaying the payment of lease amount every year. Arguing on behalf of the petitioners, Karumanchi Indraneel Babu told the high court that according to the agreements made with the farmers by the CRDA, the annual lease amount should be paid before May 1 every year.
Indraneel Babu said the state government and teh CRDA are delaying the payment every year because of which the farmers who gave away their lands and thereby the livelihoods, are facing severe financial problems.
He sought directions to the state government and the CRDA to pay annual lease amount to the farmers immediately.
Considering the arguments of the petitioners, Justice B Krishna
Mohan issued notices to the state government and the CRDA directing to submit all details pertaining to the payment of annual lease amount to the farmers and posted the matter for further hearing after three weeks.
