BC welfare residential schools record 96% pass rate

Vijayawada: Students of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule BC welfare residential schools (MJPRBCWRS) delivered a strong performance in the SSC exams, recording a 96.02% pass percentage, over 10 percentage points higher than the state average of 85.25%. Of the 5,501 students from 100 BC residential schools who appeared for the exams, 5,274 passed, with as many as 32 schools achieving 100% results. While AP residential schools marginally led with 96.04%, MJPRBCWRS emerged as the top performer in terms of scale, with a significantly higher number of students.The performance marks an improvement over last year's 95% pass rate, rising by 1.02 percentage points. In the Intermediate results declared earlier this month, BC residential students also performed strongly, with 97% pass rate in the first year and 94% in the second year. BC hostel students too showed improvement, registering an 85.99% pass rate, up from 77.22% last year. Of the 8,466 students who appeared from BC hostels, 7,280 passed, including over 1,000 scoring above 500 marks.BC welfare minister Savitri expressed satisfaction over the results, attributing the performance to reforms and the 100-day action plan introduced by education minister Nara Lokesh. She said sustained investments and targeted interventions by the govt contributed to the improved outcomes. Celebrations were held at the state secretariat in Amaravati, where officials congratulated the department and school authorities for the results.
