VIJAYAWADA: On the eve of the release of 'Baahubali-2', fans on Thursday were caught in a frenzy, eager to watch their favourite actors on screen. With the
High Court
allowing screening of benefit shows of '
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion', tickets for the sequel sold like hot cakes even as ticket prices soared to a high 3,500- 4,000.
In Hyderabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar and other places in Telangana, the excitement was palpable. Long queues despite the scorching heat were visible outside theatres.
"Theatre owners are going in for dynamic pricing as the demand for benefit shows has increased gradually after the HC order. We purchased two tickets for 3,000 along with a combo offer for 11.30 pm show," said
Ramakrishaiah
, a fan of actor Prabhas from Nizamabad district.
The craze around the mega film is so high that in AP some gas agencies were offering free tickets for those who avail themselves of new connections. Bharat Gas agency in Vijayawada started offering movie tickets for new customers since Wednesday. Another agency in Guntur came up with a similar offer. "We are going to offer free tickets for customers who take new gas connections in our office. The initiative is to promote the movie as well as business," said Y Sowmya, proprietor of

in Devinagar. Not to be left behind, some corporates and construction companies were also offering free tickets.
A few distributors in AP and Telangana states cancelled second shows in some theatres and planned shows before the break of dawn on Friday. Second shows at single screen theatres like Kaparthi, Miraj, Ravindra Cinema in Vijayawada and in some multiplexes in Vijayawada, Guntur have already been cancelled to make way for Baahubali-2.
"While the ticket is priced 100 on normal days, the price of Baahubali ticket has been increased to 500," said a film buff waiting outside the Alankar theatre.
