: Despite the ruling

YSR Congress

giving repeated representations seeking disqualification of the rebel MP K

Raghurama Krishnam Raju

, their wish may not be fulfilled in the near future.

“The disqualification of an MP is not an easy task. There is a procedure for it and it will take long time,” said Lok Sabha

Privileges Committee

member and Anantapur MP, Talari Rangaiah.

The YSR Congress had given representations to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla quite a number of times in the past seeking disqualification of Raghurama Krishnam Raju for his anti-party activities.

The party had submitted a series of media briefings by the MP, which were against party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and against the state government led by the YSRC party.

He had also filed cases in the CBI court and the Telangana high court, number of times seeking cancellation of bail granted to Jagan Mohan Reddy in the CBI cases.

“So far, the petitions against Raghurama Krishnam Raju were not included in the agenda of the Privileges Committee meeting,” its member Rangaiah said.

Though the Privileges Committee, like many other standing committees of the Parliament, works independently, the BJP members in the panel may not favour or support disqualification of Sisir Adhikari for supporting BJP.

Interestingly, Raghurama Krishnam Raju is also moving close to the BJP leadership and thus, the BJP MPs may not recommend action against the MPs. In the 15-member committee, the BJP has 9 members, while Congress, Shiva Sena, Biju Janata Dal, DMK, YSR Congress and Trinamool Congress having one member each.
