AP high court orders MLC Anantha Babu’s wife to appear in murder probe
Rajahmundry: In the driver Subrahmanyam murder case, the high court has directed Lakshmi Durga, wife of MLC Anantha Babu, to appear for questioning. She must cooperate with the investigation between March 16 and 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., as instructed by the investigating officer. The court stressed that she must personally attend. The order referred to earlier Supreme Court directions while granting default bail to Anantha Babu, which mandated speedy trial completion by November this year. The High Court also asked her to appear before the SC/ST Court in Rajahmundry on March 30.Justice Jyothirmayi issued the orders on a petition seeking cancellation of the non-bailable warrant against her. The SIT, in its supplementary charge sheet, stated that Lakshmi Durga had a role in the murder of Dalit youth Veedhi Subrahmanyam. Based on this evidence, she was named the second accused, and a warrant was issued.
