Tirupati: State endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy announced that the state govt will soon lease out around 100 acres of land belonging to Sri Vedagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple to the Nellore Municipal Corporation to establish a solar power project.
The endowments minister offered prayers at Narasimha Konda and later reviewed the progress of various development works underway at this ancient temple on Wednesday.
Anam told reporters that the endowments dept allocated funds to the tune of Rs 8.7 crore to execute various development works, including the reconstruction of Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple, the establishment of a Dhyana Mandir and a new Annaprasadam canteen.
The endowments minister added that funds to the tune of Rs 78 crore were earmarked for various development works at 57 ancient temples located in Nellore district alone.
Pointing out that the Vedagiri Narasimha Swamy Devasthanams has a land bank of 1,100 acres surrounded by hilly terrain, Anam asserted that leasing out 100 acres of these lands to the Nellore civic body to establish a solar power project will augur well for the Devasthanams as well as the Nellore Municipal Corporation. The minister added that the Vedagiri Devasthanams could earn a lease rental of Rs 3 crore annually.
