VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada city police are planning to book a case against the senior IPS officers, who allegedly harassed Bollywood actress Kadambari Jethwani.
AP home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said that Kadambari lodged an online complaint with the AP police and if the officers are found to be involved and have committed wrong, they will not be spared.
Following the reports of allegations against senior IPS officers by Kadambari Jethwani, the AP govt stepped into action and launched a probe to find out the facts.
Director-general of police (DGP) Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao asked Vijayawada commissioner S V Rajasekhar Babu to submit a report on the role of IPS officers in the case registered at Ibrahimpatnam police station against Kadambari.
Following the directions from the DGP, Rajasekhar Babu appointed ACP Dr K Sravanti Roy to inquire into the details of the case against Kadambari and to verify the allegations being made against senior IPS officers.
As Kadambari has already lodged an online complaint, her statement will be recorded first and an FIR will be registered based on her complaint and the statement, said sources.
Kadambari is expected to reach Vijayawada on Friday and Sravanti will record the statement.
Kadambari alleged that senior IPS officers PSR Anjaneyulu, then intelligence chief, Kanti Rana Tata, former commissioner of Vijayawada, and Vishal Gunni, then DCP, along with some other lower-rank officers, tortured her mentally and physically.
She also alleged that she was implicated in a false case and threatened to withdraw a complaint she lodged with Bandra Kurla police in Mumbai.
YSRC functionary Kukkala Vidya Sagar had lodged a complaint of cheating against the actress. However, Kadambari said that she turned down the marriage proposal of Vidya Sagar and since then he has been harassing her by sending nude photos on her mobile.
She said that a conspiracy was hatched by high profile persons and subjected her and her family to torture.
