Andhra University centenary celebrations begin in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: The week-long centenary celebrations of Andhra University commenced on Saturday. Nearly 2,000 students from the affiliated colleges attended the event, organised by the Andhra University Affiliated Colleges Management Association. Dr Lavu Rathaiah, chairman of Vignan University, attended as the chief guest. Speaking on this occasion, Dr Rathaiah said that Andhra University has earned global recognition. "The university has a responsibility to guide its affiliated colleges. It is necessary to remember all those who contributed to the development of Andhra University," he said.Dr Narayana Bharat Gupta, commissioner of higher education, said that Andhra University has contributed significantly to the progress of every student. He advised every student to work on improving their skills. He described the university's century-long journey as extraordinary. He urged students to participate in all events organised by AU and called on everyone to join the grand celebrations on April 27.Following the event with affiliated colleges on Saturday, the AU Arts and Commerce Colleges, IASE, and the School of International Business (SIB) will jointly hold an event titled "Celebrating a Century of Ideas" on April 19. On April 21, the College of Science and Pharmaceutical Sciences will jointly organise celebrations on the theme "A Century of Service to Humanity." On April 22, the AU Engineering College and Women's Engineering College will jointly conduct celebrations on the theme "Technology and Industry - Building the Nation, Shaping the Future." On April 23, under the leadership of Dr B.R. Ambedkar Law College, celebrations will be held on the theme "Conscience of Society."These events will be conducted from 9 am to 5 pm at the AU Convention Centre on Beach Road.
