Andhra Pradesh: Teenager convicted for 20 yrs in Posco case
PARVATHIPURAM: A teenager was convicted for 20 years in a Pocso case for cheating on a 14-year-old girl in the name of marriage in Parvathipuram Manyam district on Monday. The Judge of Posco Court, Nagamani convicted a 19-year-old Botsa Kamesh alias Kameswara Rao and also 4000 fine under section 235 (2) of Cr. PC. The court ordered a compensation of five lakhs to the victim girl.
According to the Parvathipuram Manyam Superintendent of Police Vikranth Patil, the victim girl and her mother complained on September 15 last year. The victim girl pursuing ninth standard in a high school and staying with her mother in the town. The accused Botsa Kamesh of Godabala Street in the town stalked her while she was going to school and also made false promises that he would marry her. He even threatened the girl that he would die if she denied his request. Due to fear, the girl did not inform her mother about his threat.
The accused took the chance and maintained a physical relationship with the girl. As a result, the girl had become pregnant. the accused deliberately denied and bluntly refused her request to marry her and offered some medicine to abort her pregnancy. After learning this, the accused denied and refused to marry her and offered some medicine for abortion. The victim girl and her mother approached Parvathipuram town police, who seriously investigated the case registered under sections 376(2) (n), 376 (3) of IPC and section 6 read with 5(n) Posco Act-2012.
Investigating officer DSPs A.Subhash of Parvathipuram, and trial monitoring officer SR Harshitha of Disha Cell played a pivotal role in bringing this case to a conclusion while the efforts of officers, including ASI M.Satyanarayana and head constable K Appalaraju were recognized and appreciated by the police chief Vikrant Patil.
