Andhra Pradesh: Students of VVIT vow to make no excuses, cast their votes on May 13 in Guntur district

VIJAYAWADA: Students from different departments of Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology (VVIT) pledged to vote on May 13 at the #NoExcusesDay event held at the college campus in Nambur, Guntur district, on Friday.

#NoExcusesDay is an initiative by the Times of India and is supported by the Chief Electoral Officer—Andhra Pradesh, Election Commission of India. College chairman Vasireddy Vidyasagar administered the pledge at the voting awareness programme. Students, teaching, and non-teaching staff of the college attended the programme.

Vidya Sagar mentioned that it is the duty of citizens to choose representatives who can help in the state’s and country’s social and economic progress. “Ours is a country with a great democratic system, with a robust Constitution, but we still have many issues such as unemployment, poor infrastructure, especially in rural and tribal areas, and women’s safety, among others. Exercise your franchise and elect a representative who can provide solution to issues,” he said.

Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of political parties that can prioritize both development and welfare models. They wanted students to actively participate in campaigns to educate people about candidates and elect representatives who can bring about societal transformation.

Dignitaries of the college Dr S Rajesh, principal Dr Mallikarjun Reddy, and dean Dr Satyanarayana emphasized the importance of not ignoring voting and avoid making excuses on voting day.
