TIRUPATI:

Chittoor

police on Tuesday arrested an 8 member gang of online fraudsters who used various online social media platforms and have been duping away money from the unsuspecting public.


Disclosing the case details to reporters at the district headquarters Chittoor on Tuesday, DSP N Sudhakar Reddy said the 8 member gang created groups such as Aallairi Pilla on Facebook and laid a honeytrap to the victims who fell into their trap and this gang who gained access to the victims bank accounts, routed money from the bank accounts to their own accounts through various mobile applications.

DSP N Sudhakar Reddy noted that the gang also used to hack into the mobile phones of the victims after promising them easy loans or credit cards.

Following a complaint lodged by a victim identified as CK Mounik, Chittoor police who formed special teams and investigated the case, managed to arrest 8 accused who were identified as Adapa Sambasiva Rao (32),

Thota Sravan Kumar

(31), Choppa Sudheer Kumar (30), B Anand Mehta (35), G Sreenu (21), C Kumar Raju, Lokireddy Mahesh (24) and G Siva Kumar (21).

The accused belong to different parts of Andhra Pradesh. The mastermind behind this online fraudulent racket who has been identified as

Mupatla Manasa

has managed to abscond.

Chittoor police recovered Rs 2.5 lakh cash from the possession of the accused.

DIG S Senthil Kumar appreciated DSP N Sudhakar Reddy and his team for busting this gang involved in cyber frauds and appealed to the public to be extremely cautious while dealing with various online mobile and android applications.
