TIRUPATI: A seven-member inter-ministerial team appointed by the Union government on the request of Andhra Pradesh inspected the flood affected areas in

district on Friday.


Kunal Satyarthi (ministry of home affairs), Abhey Kumar (finance ministry), Dr K Manoharan (department of agriculture),

Srinivasu Bairy

(water resources department), Shivani Sharma (energy ministry),

Shravan Kumar Singh

(ministry of roadways) and Anil Kumar Singh (ministry of rural development) are part of the inter-ministerial team currently visiting the flood-hit areas of Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier, the state government has sought a financial assistance of Rs 1000 crore as interim grant or assistance to take up relief and rehabilitation in the flood-ravaged areas.

On Friday they inspected the flooded farmlands, damaged check dams, and national highways at various places in Chandragiri and other areas in Chittoor district. Chittoor district collector briefed the central team about the overall loss.On Saturday the team will tour Kadapa district. Later, it will submit a report to the Centre on the extent of damage caused by the sudden floods triggered by torrential rains influenced by a low pressure area in the Bay.
